Main Conference Day 1: Wednesday, June 3, 2026

5:00 PM Panel: Europe in focus: How Methane Policy Is Reshaping International Gas Markets, Contracts & Compliance

Europe is redefining the global methane conversation. With MRV equivalency requirements approaching in 2027, methane intensity reporting in 2028, and performance thresholds by 2030, the rules of engagement for gas entering Europe are being rewritten in real time. These policies aren’t just regulatory milestones; they’re transforming how LNG is traded, how pipeline contracts are structured, and how operators across the world measure and manage their emissions. This session brings together key European voices—trade associations, gas buyers, traders, and regulators—to unpack what this shift really means.

  • Analyze compliance milestones for importers: MRV equivalency by 2027, methane intensity reporting by 2028, and performance thresholds by 2030, plus implications for global LNG and pipeline contracts
  • Debate technical challenges in implementing OGMP 2.0 Level 4/5 methodologies, independent third-party verification, and harmonizing bottom-up and top-down quantification approaches
  • Assess strategic consequences for European operators and importers: contract negotiations, liability risks, and interoperability with international standards amid tightening EU climate objectives
