Main Conference Day 1: Wednesday 17th March

11:00 AM Panel: The EU Import Standard: Decoding the Pathways to Compliance

As the EU Import Standard moves towards implementation, producers and importers are assessing the different mechanisms available to demonstrate compliance across international supply chains. Certification schemes, methane attributes and other compliance solutions are emerging with different requirements for measurement, verification, traceability, data and chain of custody. This panel will bring these approaches together to clarify what each pathway requires, where they differ, and how operators and importers should assess the options available to them.

• Map the different pathways currently emerging for demonstrating compliance with the EU Import Standard, and the requirements attached to each.
• Compare approaches to methane measurement, quantification, verification and methane-intensity calculation.
• Examine differences in traceability, chain of custody and how methane performance is linked to the physical commodity or supply.
• Explore the practical requirements for producers and importers — including data, assurance, documentation, infrastructure and internal capability.
• Consider how each pathway addresses complex international supply chains, including LNG and crude, multiple ownership changes and commingled production.
• Clarify where approaches are complementary, where they differ materially, and what questions producers and buyers should be asking when evaluating their compliance pathway.
