The EU Methane Regulation mandates that producers compute and report methane intensity for their oil and gas operations starting on August 2028. The precise methodology for calculating this intensity has not yet been defined but will be published in 2027. There are a number of different methodologies for calculating methane intensity. Thus, it is important to explore the advantages and disadvantages of the various approaches.
