Thomas Fox is an internationally recognized expert in methane emissions management and the driving force behind Highwood’s digital solutions, innovation efforts, and technical vision. As co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, he has helped grow Highwood into a leading provider of emissions intelligence, serving more than 100 clients, including supermajors, industry associations, regulators, and non-profits across global oil and gas markets.
Thomas holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, where he specialized in methane detection and quantification technology evaluation as a Vanier Scholar and developed LDAR-Sim, the open-source simulation platform now used globally to optimize methane technology deployment. Over the past decade, he has contributed to major policy frameworks including US and Canadian regulations, MiQ, Veritas, and ISO Standards, and has led dozens of high-profile methane projects with clients around the world.
Thomas is a frequent speaker at international conferences and a trusted advisor to energy companies, regulators, and technology developers navigating the evolving emissions landscape. His work combines deep technical knowledge with a focus on clarity, defensibility, and practical implementation.
It’s no secret that accurately detecting and quantifying methane emissions is crucial for regulatory and voluntary reporting. However, finding the right combination of technologies and establishing the optimal measurement frequency isn’t always straightforward. This workshop will guide you in developing a comprehensive roadmap for selecting, integrating, and sequencing the best tools and techniques to ensure reliable and cost-effective monitoring.
Join this Workshop to:
· Leverage detection technologies that complement one another for enhanced accuracy
· Maximize efficiency by discovering the optimal sequence for deploying different technologies
· Determine the ideal measurement frequency to balance precision and cost effectively
· Customize successful use cases to fit your specific operational requirements
· Debate the pros and cons of developing custom, in-house methane management systems versus leveraging third-party platforms
· Evaluate cost, scalability, maintenance, and integration factors that influence the build vs. buy decision
· Explore real-world operator experiences, lessons learned, and hidden pitfalls from both strategies
· Identify the critical questions to ask when selecting a methane data management approach that fits your operational goals
