Pre-Conference Workshop Day: Tuesday 25th February

2:15 PM Workshop J: Laser OGI Meets EU Regulation: The Advantage of Laser OGI Technologies for EU Regulatory Compliance

New LDAR requirements in the EU present a significant challenge for operators, exceeding the requirements set for their US counterparts. In addition to detecting methane leaks, operators must also catalogue and report every component—whether it emits methane or not—while also quantifying the emission rate.

Infrared OGI technology has long been the standard for methane detection. However, with the recent approval of Xplorobot’s Laser OGI by the U.S. EPA, operators now have a cost-effective, fully digital, handheld solution designed to meet EU regulations.

This workshop will cover:

  • Effectiveness between Infrared OGI (17 g/hr detection threshold) and Laser OGI (1 g/hr detection threshold).
  • Enhanced safety of Laser OGI (50-meter range for methane detection).
  • Automation of component cataloging during scans and zero-emission certification requirements.
  • Quantification accuracy and environmental factors that influence emission rate measurements.
  • Labour- and cost-efficiency of Laser OGI, and minimal training requirement
