Teamleader for Decarbonization NET4GAS s.r.o.

Jakub Peter is a Team Leader for Decarbonization Strategy at the Czech natural gas transmission system operator - NET4GAS, where he is responsible for steering the company’s transition towards sustainable low-carbon solutions. In his current role, he leads greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, develops and implements the corporate decarbonization strategy, and oversees the full implementation of the EU Methane Regulation (MER). He also coordinates innovative projects that introduce new technologies and digital solutions into operational practice.

Jakub’s career spans both academia and industrial research, with a strong focus on environmental and energy technologies. He has gained extensive expertise in emission modelling, technological approaches to methane mitigation, and the development of decarbonization pathways. His professional background bridges theoretical research, academic publications, and practical applications in the gas sector.

By combining his academic knowledge with hands-on industry experience, Jakub brings a unique perspective that connects research, innovation, and regulatory compliance with operational practices in gas transmission.

At the Methane Mitigation Europe Summit, he will share insights on strategies for methane emissions monitoring and mitigation in gas transmission networks, highlighting practical approaches currently being implemented within his organization.

Main Conference Day 1: Wednesday 25th February

10:30 AM Panel: Build, Buy or Both? Designing the Right Methane Management System for Your Operations

  • Debate the pros and cons of developing custom, in-house methane management systems versus leveraging third-party platforms
  • Evaluate cost, scalability, maintenance, and integration factors that influence the build vs. buy decision
  • Explore real-world operator experiences, lessons learned, and hidden pitfalls from both strategies
  • Identify the critical questions to ask when selecting a methane data management approach that fits your operational goals

Main Conference Day 2: Thursday 26th February

10:30 AM Panel: Developing Technology that Delivers for Pipeline Infrastructure: Innovation, Integration, and Impact

  • Learn how operators are working with technology providers to co-develop solutions that meet real-world pipeline challenges when it comes to sensor accuracy and pipeline accessibility
  • Weigh the environmental cost of aircraft emissions against the value of detecting small leaks, and explore more sustainable monitoring alternatives
  • Discuss what regulators should consider “acceptable” in terms of detection accuracy and measurement frequency
