Global Research Scholar Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University

A specialist in global gas markets, I have been responsible for analysis of global gas markets especially identifying new gas market trends. I have also an interest in hydrogen that I have been working on on an ad-hoc basis for over 20 years. As a French and German engineer, my background mixes energy engineering and economics. My experience involves presenting and giving strategic advice to senior management and countries in terms of energy policy, analysing gas markets trends, modelling supply/demand and following hydrogen strategies and recent developments.

Main Conference Day 1: Wednesday 25th February

8:15 AM Keynote Panel: From Legislative Text to Operator Action: Navigating Compliance and Implementation under the EU Methane Regulation

With the EU Methane Regulation now published and the delegated act set to define the technical and procedural details, operators face a new era of compliance complexity. This keynote panel convenes regulatory experts to decode the latest legislative instruments and explore what they mean for day-to-day operations. The discussion will move beyond policy headlines to unpack the real-world implications of implementation timelines, technology approvals, and industry-wide readiness.

    • Break down the key outcomes of the Omnibus and Delegated Act, and what they mean for methane monitoring, reporting, and mitigation
    • Clarify timelines and expectations for compliance, including what operators should be doing now to prepare for enforcement
    • Explore the challenges of harmonisation across Member States, and how industry can navigate uneven regulatory maturity
    • Highlight collaborative initiatives and support mechanisms that are helping operators streamline compliance efforts, share best practices, and build internal capacity

10:30 AM Panel: Passport Please: Decoding Equivalency, Compliance, and Collaboration Under the EU Import Standard

    • Discuss the implications of the EU methane import standard for global exporters and European buyers
    • Explore the challenge of MRV equivalency across jurisdictions and efforts to harmonize standards
    • Examine importer expectations around data transparency, reporting, and supplier due diligence
    • Highlight early collaborations building aligned, auditable, and trust-based supply chains

4:20 PM Panel: Abatement Spotlight: Reduced by Design: Engineering Facilities & Pipelines to Minimise Methane Emissions

This session will spotlight how proactive design choices in facilities and pipeline infrastructure can significantly cut methane emissions—before operations even begin. By rethinking equipment selection, layout, and operational configurations, the featured operator has embedded methane mitigation into the DNA of their assets, delivering long-term environmental and commercial gains.

      • Learn how early-stage design decisions can eliminate common emission points and reduce reliance on future retrofits.
      • Explore innovations in compressors, valves, and venting systems that deliver measurable methane reductions
      • Understand how design teams integrate regulatory compliance, safety, and operational efficiency into emissions-conscious infrastructure planning
      • Gain insights into the business case for emissions-focused engineering, including lifecycle cost savings and improved stakeholder confidence
