Andres Russu

COO – Chief Operating Officer Sensia

Andrés Russu is Chief Operations Officer (COO) at SENSIA, a technology company specialising in the development of infrared imaging cameras for gas detection and emissions monitoring. He has held this position since 2017, being responsible for overseeing operations and supporting the delivery of advanced technological solutions for industrial applications. With more than 25 years of professional experience, his career has been closely linked to the management and development of highly complex scientific and engineering projects, particularly in the fields of advanced instrumentation and the space sector. Prior to joining SENSIA, he worked as a Project Manager and Systems Engineer on international programmes associated with the European Space Agency (ESA) and large-scale scientific missions. Throughout his career, he has held responsibilities in the development of scientific and industrial instrumentation for both terrestrial and space applications, participating in projects related to Earth observation, space weather and high-energy astrophysics, within highly regulated and safety-critical environments. His profile combines executive responsibility, a strong technical foundation and international experience in R&D&I environments, with a clear focus on the practical application of technology and operational excellence.

Pre-Conference Workshop Day: Tuesday 24th February

1:45 PM SOLD OUT - Workshop L:  Precision Under Pressure: Sensor Accuracy, Detection Thresholds and Real-Time Operational Control for Emissions Reduction Traceability in Methane Monitoring

As EU regulations demand increasingly precise methane quantification and lower detection thresholds, the accuracy of sensors and measurement technologies is under scrutiny. This workshop will explore how detection systems are validated for accuracy, how uncertainty is managed, and how Infrared technology deployed to meet compliance requirements. Building on an operator-led level four and level five measurements, the session will examine how sensor performance impacts reporting integrity and operativity and what it takes to meet regulatory expectations in the field and real methane emissions mitigation.

  • Examine how detection technologies are validated for accuracy, precision, and repeatability in real-world conditions
  • Understand the role of uncertainty in measurement and how it impacts regulatory compliance and emissions reduction
  • Explore IR technology and deployment strategies that enhance detection sensitivity. quantification precision and real time operational control of the emissions reduction
  • Discuss how evolving regulation is shaping environmental and safety standards and expectations for methane emissions reduction technologies
