10:45 AM (12:45pm to 1.15pm BRT) Panel: Fit for Purpose? Rethinking Methane Technologies in the Latin American Context

Methane mitigation technologies are often developed for US and EU operating contexts—leaving a gap when applied in Latin America’s complex terrain and constrained environments. From dense vegetation and cloud cover to budget limits and skills-shortages, regional operators face unique hurdles. This panel will explore how LATAM stakeholders are adapting technologies, reshaping strategies, and building partnerships to close the implementation gap.

  • Examine why technologies developed for EU/US conditions often underperform in LATAM’s operational environments (e.g., dense vegetation, cloud cover, climate variability)
  • Discuss the gap between vendor expectations and on-the-ground realities—limited connectivity, skilled personnel shortages, and inconsistent access to funding
  • Explore how national oil companies and regional operators are adapting or simplifying tech deployments to fit local contexts
  • Identify collaborative models (e.g., tech sharing, public-private pilots, regional training hubs) to bridge capability and budget gaps)
