9:00 AM (11.00am to 11.30am BRT) Panel: From Estimates to Evidence: Building Measurement-Informed Inventories with Direct Measurement

As expectations rise for credible, transparent methane reporting, measurement-informed inventories (MIIs) are emerging as a critical tool for bridging the gap between estimates and reality. Combining direct measurements with traditional inventory methods enables operators to produce more accurate, site-specific emissions data. This panel explores the practical challenges of implementing MIIs, from data integration to regulatory alignment, and how they’re reshaping methane strategies across diverse asset types.

  • Develop robust, digital inventories using asset-specific emissions factors to improve precision and transparency
  • Leverage continuous data streams from multiple technologies to reconcile discrepancies between site-level readings and aggregated inventory models
  • Incorporate environmental variables—such as wind, temperature, and humidity—to adjust for measurement uncertainty in dynamic field conditions
  • Build internal systems that support near-real-time data integration, anomaly detection, and decision-making at scale
